With gilt vignette of "The Fram" on the cover of volume I and "Northwards through the Drift-Snow" on volume II. 510, 671pp. About one hundred and twenty full page and numerous text illustrations, sixteen coloured plates in facsimile from Dr. Nansen's own sketches etched portrait photgravures and colour fold out maps. In very good condition. Spines slightly faded with small chips at ends. Small indentations to both spines. Corners slightly bumped and small bumps to fore edges. Mild foxing to edges. Else clean and tight copies. First Edition of the English Translation. "Narrative of the First Fram Expedition, 1893-1896, led by Nansen, with the object of investigating the polar basin north of Eurasia by drifting in the ice with the currents northwest from the New Siberian Islands across or near the Pole."
