The previous owner Arhur Brunt signed the book Xmas 1911 inside the front cover - there are no other markings on the book which looks as tho it has never seen the light of day until 2004! Complete with the book is a small pamphlet printed by Blackie entitled Blackie's Books for Boys advertising books from Alexander Macdonald; Captian Brereton among others. There is also a miniature dustwrapper advertising "On Foreign Service by T T Jeans" depicting a warship in frozen waters with gulls down the spine with a synopsis of the book inside and other books by TT Jeans and on the rear are books by Breretonb; Collingwood and Westerman. A rarity in itself. The book has 8 full page coloured illustrations there are 328pp with a vii introduction plus contents page ; list of illustrations; list of authorities. The dark green boards embellished in gold have the Empire insignia on front board with Indian Chief head on spine plus lettering all in gold. Spine has light soiling, small holes to cloth of front joint, light cover sunning, rubbing to fore edge of front cover, VG otherwise, internally fine, in the original plain tissue wrapper (chipped, torn).
