George Gordon Byron, 6th Baron Byron, later George Gordon Noel, 6th Baron Byron, FRS (22 January 1788 - 19 April 1824), commonly known simply as Lord Byron, was a British poet and a leading figure in Romanticism. Amongst Byron's best-known works are the brief poems She Walks in Beauty, When We Two Parted, and So, we'll go no more a roving, in addition to the narrative poems Childe Harold's Pilgrimage and Don Juan. He is regarded as one of the greatest British poets and remains widely read and influential. Byron was celebrated in life for aristocratic excesses including huge debts, numerous love affairs, and self-imposed exile. He was famously described by Lady Caroline Lamb as "mad, bad and dangerous to know". He travelled to fight against the Ottoman Empire in the Greek War of Independence, for which Greeks revere him as a national hero. He died from a fever contracted while in Messolonghi in Greece.

Außerdem sind in jedem Band 3 kl. Bibliotheksstempel. Vereinzelt zarte Bleistiftanstreichungen an der Textseite. Seiten unbeschnitten und dadurch sehr selten mit kl. Einrisschen. Sauberer, guter Text und Tafeln. Inside a bit bronzy, some pages a little foxy, at the beginning sometimes a bit more. A crossed out library label on the book end paper in front or in the inner front cover. Small adress label on the inner front cover. Volumen 1 (poetry): one bigger fixed notation on the front book end paper. In this volume, someone drew with a biro into the face of Byrons Portrait and wrote some words below the explaining text. With three small library stamps in each volume. Sporadic gentle pencil notations beneath the text. Pages uncut and thereby rarely with small tears. Clean, good text and plates.

Thomas Medwin war ein Vetter Shelleys, der ihn in Italien mit Lord Byron bekannt machte. Seine "Gespräche mit Lord Byron", eine bedeutende Quelle zu Byron und Shelley, sind kurz nach Byrons Tod 1824 erschienen und von J. W. v. Goethe, der Byron besonders hoch schätzte, mit einem "Beitrag zur Feier seines Andenkens" bedacht worden (hier Seite 215 - 218). Medwins Schrift soll Eckermann zu seinen Gesprächen mit Goethe angeregt haben. Im Anhang ein Schreiben Byrons an H. Beyle (de Stendhal), "einige Nachrichten über Lord Byron's Aufenthalt in Griechenland", über "Lord Byron's letzte Lebenstage", mit der "Gedächtnisrede" von Spiridon Tricoupi u.a. Die erste deutsche Ausgabe erschien ebenfalls schon 1824, dies ist die zweite deutsche Ausgabe.
