This first Medaenas Monograph on the Arts was produced for the Metropolitan Museum of Art with funds from Boehringer Ingelheim Ltd., of Ridgefield, CT. French impressionist painter Claude Monet (1840-1926) spent the last years of his life at Giverny and painted water lilies at his home there. // Trifle sunning near spine. Reprint of an essay by Duncan Phillips. Compiled and edited by Willem de Looper, Martha Carey & Jan Lancaster. Monograph produced with the Phillips Collection on Maurice Prendergast (1859-1924) and his brother Charles (1863-1948). Maurice was a member THE EIGHT -- an artistically revolutionary group of artists including Robert Henri and John Sloan. He showed his paintings at the Armory show and one critic described his work as looking "like an explosion in a color factory." // Spine slightly sunned. Few very tiny specks of white paint. Small wear to spine ends. Rear corners have small bends that go lightly through the back of book. Does not affect the art work or text. First Edition Paperback; First Edition
