The text is illustrated with a further 50 tipped in coloured illustrations by Paul Gauguin and other artists. White cloth boards with red printers' mark on the front and back panels and red writing on the spine. Rubbing to the book edges and foxing has also occurred. Previous owner has scrubbed out their name in black text for on the front paste down. Slight browning to the internal pages. Illustrated dustwapper, showing illustration by Paul Gauguin, with white background in black and pink writing on the front panel and spine. Rubbing and chipping, with loss to the top dustwapper spine edge and rubbing to the other edges. The white background has become somewhat dull and yellowed and the spine has some dark marks. Paul Gauguin ( 7. Juni 1848 - 8. Mai 1903 ) war ein französischer Maler. Er gilt als früher Mitbegründer der Modernen Malerei. Er beeinflusste mit seinem Werk den Symbolismus, avancierte zum Mitbegründer des Synthetismus und wurde Wegbereiter des Expressionisums. Als Hauptvertreter des französischen Expressionismus stieg Paul Gauguin, neben Paul Cezanne und Vincent van Gogh, zu einem der bedeutendsten Maler der Kunstgeschichte auf. Zu seiner wichtigsten künstlerischen Hinterlassenschaft zählen die " Südseebilder ".
