No date, references the mid-1897 move of the firm to larger quarters so the date seems to be a year or 2 either side of 1900. Dark green cloth ~13 x 20.5 cm. size. Chipping to paper label on cover, front-free endpaper is detached and very worn. The book is good and unmarked otherwise. Unpaginated (about 140 pages). Samples of Body and Title types, a sample page is set in various sizes and forms of the body types 'Caslon Old Style', 'Old Style Number Two', 'Modern', 'Modern Number Two', Modern Number Three'. And sentence samples in versions of 'Modern Title", 'Century', 'Jensen', 'Florentine', 'Cushing Monotone', 'De Vinne', 'Cleveland', 'Old Style Antique', 'Antique No. 6', 'Grant', 'Tudor', 'Abbey Text', 'Quaint Black Face', 'Quaint Open Face', 'Quentell', 'Columbia', 'Duerer', 'Gothic', 'Victoria', 'French Old Style', 'Alaskan', 'Circular Gothic', 'Caxton', 'Old English Text', 'Skjald', 'Spencer', 'Modern Antique', and well as many 'Miscellaneous' types. The book also shows samples of 29 initial letter styles, 36 boarders, Florets, Ornaments, Stars, Maltese Crosses, Pen Strokes, Index Cuts (i.e. pointing fingers). Introduction is 2 pages directed to publishers considering using the services of the Press, with directions for calculating number of pages in the finished book, given certain fonts and sizes.
