Very Good
Type: Hard Back SECOND PRINTING BEFORE PUBLICATION. HARDCOVER AND JACKET IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. Mylar jacket cover. 316 pages. Four pages of photographs. Book and jacket have a touch of edgewear, otherwise clean, tight, solid volume. An adventure in historical and scholarly sleuthing--given the documents and memoirs of Sir Edmund Blackhouse, an author of two Chinese history books who had lived in China nearly 50 years and had once been connected with the British Secret Service, to review, for possible deposition in the Bodleian Library at Oxford. The author, a Regius Professor of Modern History at Oxford, was in for a surprise, in many ways almost humorous. His memoirs told of a man who was the lover of dozens of prominent figures of his times--their fantasy was interwoven with reality, which was even stranger--he turned out to be one of the most outrageous forgers, confidence tricksters, and eccentrics of the 20th century. Very Good Cloth 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall
