New York: Thomas Yoseloff. 1959. (First edition). Octavo. Gilt spine titled black cloth. Extremities have some light scuffing. Edges are lightly tanned. Top edge has some staining. Fore edge has a tiny stain none of which affect the interior else very good in dustjacket with some light scuffing and edge tanning to the rear panel. Extremities have a bit of light wear else very good. This copy has been inscribed in ink on the front fly by composer, Virgil Thomson, to fellow composer, Charles Jones, who we believe may have been one of Thomson's composition instructor's "for Charlie Jones/friendly thoughts/long time/and warm greetings/Virgil Thomson/1963". A wonderful assocation copy of this excellent Virgil Thomson biography co-authored by fellow American composer John Cage. Rare when signed by the subject. A great book.
