Raised in Switzerland, the hero author becomes a soldier as a young man, and after various exploits ends up in Amsterdam, from where he sets sail to the Indies to make his fortune. There follows an exciting narrative of mutiny, piracy, privation, and shipwreck, the picaresque novel ending with the story of the Moorish King Jacquin and Bawier's safe return to Europe.Very good copy.
