Famous text book on artillery warfare by Luis Collado, a Spanish engineer attached to the Spanish army in Italy. The work, based on the author's own knowledge and experience had first been published in Italian at Venice in 1586. But Collado, probably dissatisfied with this first attempt, rewrote the work in his native tongue, which resulted in a completely new work, quite different from the first. This Spanish edition was first published at Milan in 1592, and its Italian translation in 1606 in folio, and in 1641, the present work, in quarto. This last edition is the most richly illustrated. The woodcuts came partly from Diego Nunez Alva's "Dialogos de la vida del Soldado", and new woodcuts were added.
