'The dictionary became Cooper's most wellknown work. Many of the entries were lengthy and Cooper took special care to refer to other works which could provide additional information on a paritcular topic' (Heirs of Hippocrates (1990) 1359 zur Ausg. Philadelphia 1810). - Samuel Cooper (1780-1848) wurde 1803 Member des R. C. S., 1813 trat er in die Armee ein und diente bei Waterloo, 1827 wurde er Mitglied des Council des R. C. S., ab 1845 dessen Prädident, von 1831-48 wirkte er als Surgeon am University Coll. Hosp. und wurde 1848 Fellow der Royal Society. Er gewann den Jacksonian-Preis und beschäftigte sich mit der Reform des med. Unterrichts. - Meist etwas stockfleckig.
