Early issue (2nd of 1st edn?) #106 on spine not CVI. Title is Life Before the Mast and author's name appears nowhere. 2nd issue as none of earlier points present and #173 of Library listed in rear (dating it at 1843). Some interior smudges and foxing but cobble brown covers reasonably well preserved w/minor bumps to ends and small piece missing from spine unaffecting title. Harper's paid $250 reluctantly for what became the greatest book in this genre and proved Dana's only lasting work.
