Paas, John R.: The German Political Broadsheet 1600-1700. Vol. 9: 1662-1670. Wiesbaden: Harrassowitz 2007.
The 1660s were a time of continual warfare in Europe. Early in the decade the Ottoman Empire posed a grave threat to the West, and later competing national interests led the French, the English, and the Dutch to become embroiled in military confl ict. As people sought to keep abreast of current events, broadsheets constituted one of the most important sources of news. Reproduced in this volume are 450 sheets drawn from over 80 collections in 15 countries for the period from 1662 to 1670. The majority of this material is extremely rare, and very few of the sheets have been reproduced since the original printing in the seventeenth century. The entire edition, which now comprises 9 volumes and includes more than 3000 half-tone reproductions of broadsheets dating from 1600 to 1670, is unparalleled in its breadth and depth. It is a valuable primary resource for scholars in many fields who have an interest in Germany and/or European politics in

Windwehr, Jana/Franke, Anja/Gawrich, Andrea: Resources from Energy as a Curse? Rentierism and Energy Policy in Post-Soviet States, BUDRICH, 120 ISBN: 3866493401
Energy as a CurseThe analysis of rentierism in Post-soviet states, which this book presents, underscores the need for further research as rentier state concepts have mainly been applied to older rentier states like African, Latin American and Arab countries. An important contribution to a topical discussion.During the last 30 years, many resource-rich countries have experienced economic and political stagnation (resource curse). They have developed deficient political systems in which the process of modern state formation is being undercut (rentier state) as well as economic structures in which sectors that provide strong incentives for the accumulation of physical and human capital are under-represented (Dutch disease). This is very much the same in many of the post-Soviet states with high resource incomes since the mid 1990s. These incomes present opportunities for reducing poverty and promoting economic growth. But instead of taking advantage of these opportunities many of them present authoritarian regimes with high levels of corruption, low political freedom and rent-seeking elites. The book gives a detailed analysis of rentierism in Post-soviet states.

Dabir, Ladan: Dutch Disease and Iranian Economy The Impact of Dutch Disease on Manufacturing Sector of Iranian Economy, VDM VERLAG DR. MÜLLER, Oktober 2010, Besorgungstitel - vorauss. Lieferzeit 3-5 Tage. ISBN: 3639160088
Iran as a country dominated by oil exports offers unique insights and rich rewards considering its economic and socio-political environment. Although according to a resource-based analysis this economy has the potential of being the world's 20th strongest economy because of its rich reserves in minerals and other natural resources alongside with country's geo-strategic position. However, since the Revolution in 1979, Iran has encountered important socio-economical and instructional changes and at the same time has been affected by significant economic and political disruptions. The so-called Dutch Disease as an economic concept explains the seeming relationship between natural resource abundance in a country and decline in other economic sectors specially manufacturing. This theory reveals that an increase in revenues from natural resources will de-industrialize the economy by raising exchange rate, which makes manufacturing sectors to become less competitive. The primary purpose of this book is to determine if Iranian economy is suffering from this problem and if so what will be the impact of this issue on manufacturing sector.

Sandle, Tim: Two extremes? Flexible working in Europe A study of differences in Flexible Working Time between two European Plasma Fractionators in Britain and the Netherlands, VDM VERLAG DR. MÜLLER, Mai 2011, Besorgungstitel - vorauss. Lieferzeit 3-5 Tage. ISBN: 3639349652
This monograph is a comparative study of the industrial relations and human resource implications of flexible working time arrangements between two similar organisations (in terms of size and function) in the UK and the Netherlands. The conception of flexible working time used in this study is taken to be a board term encompassing working patterns outside '9 to 5'. The two organisations examined are not-for-profit plasma fractionators: the UK's BPL and the Dutch CLB. The monograph, drawing on developments in working time in the two countries and across the European Union, looks for observations of these trends in the organisations. The study shows that, despite some strong European trends towards convergence of working time arrangements, there are significant differences between both countries and between the two organisations studied. This is explained in terms of political, economic, social and cultural factors. Both organisations have forms of flexible working, however, in the UK this is employer driven, whereas in the Netherlands there is a firmer balance between meetings the needs of employer and employees.
