Book undated but ink name and date to half title Christmas 1913. Good + (no d/j. Shelf wear to extremities of boards - mainly colour loss although tips of top corners frayed exposing boards and head of spine has 10mm approx tear and is frayed accross top. Laid on colour plate has some rubbing/colour loss. End papers sound. A few light liquid splashes to foredges and minor spotting to a few pages - seemingly mostly the obverse of the colour plates. This is a heavy book and may involve an additional postage charge dependant on mode of carriage required. Hard Back 265x200mm Approx.

This is nine volume collection of de luxe limited to five hundred copies numbered edition ( this is number 184). red letherette bound volumes with golden titling on the sines, illustrations on frontispieces divided by rice paper from title page, black and white illustrations on plates with rice paper dividers. Hand cut edges of the contents. Includes: 1. ADAM BEDE ( PUBLISHED 1886 ); 2. FELIX HOLT ( 1886 ); 3. MIDDLE MARCH IN TWO VOLUME ( 1886 ); 4. MISCELLANEOUS ESSAYS: IMPRESSIONS OF THEOPRASTUS SUCH, THE VEIL LIFTED, BROTHER JACOB (1887 ); 5. DANIEL DORONDA IN TWO VOLUME ( 1887 ); 6. ROMOLA IN TWO VOLUME ( 1887 ). 7. SCENES OF CLERICAL LIFE --- LIFE OF THE AUTHOR ( 1886 ). All books are clean and tight copies inside, illustrated with black and white illustrations on plates with rice paper dividers. Common for all books is wear of different degree on the tips of spines - lighter on some volumes and little bit heavier on other. Some light foxing on hard covers. Hindges on some volumes started developing cracking, still tight copies. Major problem with all books is fragile letherette on tips of spines. Text blocks are clean and tight. Overall conditon for the set is GOOOD only, mostly for the reason of spines and hindges condition.
