Unique copy with various original works by Mikhail Larionov: an ORIGINAL GOUACHE (on front free endpaper recto) initialled 'M. L.', three ORIGINAL INK DRAWINGS (on first blank recto, half-title verso and final free endpaper recto) each initialled 'M. L.' and a decorative vignette (on title) and decorative schema (surrounding dedication) both in ink and without initials.The Brook Kerith, published in 1916 after George Moore's visit to Jerusalem and the Holy Land, is based on Moore's controversial idea of a non-divine Christ, nursed back to health after the crucifixion and undertaking a journey for enlightenment to India. Whether the subject of the book appealed to Larionov, or the reverse, is unknown, however it is clear that the book inspired him and his illustrations are very much in keeping with the subject.
