Faint vertical crease through center. Light foxing to a few leaves, internally clean. * Charlestown State Prison warden Charles Lincoln was fatally stabbed by inmate Abner Rogers. Budington's sermon preceded the trial. He assumed Rogers would be convicted and sentenced to death. He argued against this course with a sermon that blends theology with sociology and criminology. In then end Rogers was found to be delusional. The case of Commonwealth v. Rogers (1844) established a new standard for exculpation by reason of insanity.
