Mathematical Foundations of Scientific Visualization, Computer Graphics, and Massive Data Exploration, Springer-Verlag GmbH, Juni 2009 ISBN: 354025076X
Visualization is one of the most active and exciting areas of Mathematics and Computing Science, and indeed one which is only beginning to mature. Current visualization algorithms break down for very large data sets. While present approaches use multi-resolution ideas, future data sizes will not be handled that way. New algorithms based on sophisticated mathematical modeling techniques must be devised which will permit the extraction of high-level topological structures that can be visualized. For these reasons a workshop was organized at the Banff International Research Station, focused specifically on mathematical issues. A primary objective of the workshop was to gather together a diverse set of researchers in the mathematical areas relevant to the recent advances in order to discuss the research challenges facing this field in the next several years. The workshop was organized into five different thrusts: - Topology and Discrete Methods; - Signal and Geometry Processing; - Partial Differential Equations; - Data Approximation Techniques; - Massive Data Applications. This book presents a summary of the research ideas presented at this workshop. TOC:1. Maximizing Adaptivity in Hierarchical Topological Models Using Cancellation Trees Peer-Timo Bremer, Valerio Pascucci, and Bernd Hamann.- 2. Druery, John Henry. HISTORICAL AND TOPOGRAPHICAL NOTICES OF GREAT YARMOUTH In Norfolk, and its Environs, Including the Parishes and Hamlets of the Half Hundred of Lothingland, in Suffolk. England: Nichols & Son, 1826.
Binding is edge worn and rubbed. Spine is a little rubbed but in quite remarkably good condition, with sound hinges. The endpaper covering the front joint is cracked. Name on front free endpaper. One of the blank pages at the back of the book is full of handwritten notes. Minor foxing throughout, with the pages facing the plates being more generally foxed. The plate facing p.7 has probably been re-glued (it is supposed to face p.6) . The first few pages, up to and including the frontispiece, may have been imperfectly re-glued. The fore edges of a few pages are roughened. ; 7-1/2" Tall. The highest numbered page is 382, but since there are several sets of duplicate numbers (not duplicate text) , it would be very complicated to figure out the exact number of pages. Brown boards, spine and fore corners are brown leather with gold lettering in black spine panels. Six raised spine bands. HISTORY. Scarce ORIGINAL EDITION, published in 1826 by Nichols & Son, Parliament-Street; Baldwin, Cradock, & Joy , and Longman, Rees, Orme, & Co. , Paternoster-Row; and by the principal Booksellers in Norfolk and Suffolk. Nine plates, each printed on one side only on heavier paper , and two fold-out genealogies (Descent of Cotton Symonds, Esq. & Descent of the Manor of Somerleyton) . Index. (L. R. 2-A. ).
