Er schrieb an 'Nation', 'Critic', das 'New York Journal' und andere Periodika und bestand darauf, daß dies eine unzulässige (hash-up?)... von Artikeln sei, die er für Zeitungen geschrieben habe.... und daß er mit ihrer Publikation nichts zu schaffen habe. Kipling hatte versucht, die Veröffentlichung der Artikel in Buchform in Indien und England zu verhindern, und er hatte auch teilweise Erfolg damit. Später jedoch änderte er seine Haltung und veröffentlichte eine Auswahl der Artikel in der Ausgabe "From Sea to Sea", New York 1899, und London, 1900. (Stewart, Rudyard Kipling, A Bibliographical Catalogue, 137). - Eingeklebter Besitzervermerk auf Deckelinnenseite. Vorsätze leicht stockfleckig, sonst sehr schönes Exemplar. Near fine copy.
