KNOSSOS - Palmer, Leonard R.: A New Guide to the Palace of Knossos; London, Faber and Faber, 1969.
This guide, after a brief introduction sketching the archaeological framework and the scientific problems involved, takes the visitor through the palace quarter by quarter. At each key place, the excavation results, as ascertained from the new sources which supplement and correct the published accounts, are presented. Plans, figures and plates summarize the evidence. Emphasis has been put on the famous works of Minoan Art since these are the focus of interest for the tourist. Finally the appendix takes the visitor rapidly through the Knossos exhibits in the Archaeological Museum at Heraklion with references to the discussions in the body of the book. // L. R.
