400 g; XVII, 158pp., acknowledgement and foreword by Vice-Admiral Sir John Collins. Illustrated endpapers, showing flotsom and jetsum on a beach. Illustrated title page, by Frank Norton, and within the text there are another 26 black and white illustrations plus 4 pages with map of Sunda Strait and views of HMAS Perth & USS Houston, again by artist. Blue/Green coloured boards with blue illustration on front panel and blue writing on the spine. The corners of the book are rubbed and there is shelfwear evident to the top and bottom book edges. The head and the heel of the spine is quite heavily rubbed and bumped. Browning and straining to the paper edges and there is browning to the internal pages. The painful story of the last action of HMAS Perth and USS Houston on the night of 28th February 1942, in the Sunda Strait. "Of a ship's company of 682, only 229 lived to return to Australia.".
