Folding engraved coloured frontispiece, engraved portrait, 2 folding maps, 43 black and white illustrations, many full page, some folding, with the two coloured plates offered in the first issue copies. 8vo, handsomely bound to a gentleman's taste in English antique 3/4 green morocco over green cloth, the spine with gilt tooled raised bands, compartments of the spine gilt tooled with panels incorporating a central decorative device gilt. Gilt lettered in two compartments. x, 687 pp. A very pleasing copy in a very handsome binding, very clean and in a fine state of preservation with a bit of the typical evidence of aging to the folding plate.
