Condition: Slight bow to top cover; hinge starting at several points; cloth is discolored, mostly on top cover near joint as well as spine (which has affected several letters on spine); cloth is rubbed; corners are bumped; endpapers are toned and have light foxing; first free endpaper has offset; previous owner's signature on first pastedown endpaper with date (February 1900); preliminaries, text block, and edges have light toning; some pages have light foxing; contemporary notation (done in 1900?) in ink in bottom margin on page 10 has bleed through pages' eight and nine; rear free endpaper has offset; fold marks at foot of several pages; and pages' 93-96 are shorter than balance of text block (done in production]; else Good Plus. This collectible book is a history of the war from the Boer Ultimatum to the advance of Lord Roberts. The latter commanded the imperial forces in South Africa. A wonderful historical perspective. The book is in good condition with some all-around surface and edge rubbing, top spine tip barely beginning to fray, a bit of finger soil and foxing to the endpapers, sound text block, good hinges, clean pages with no names or other markings..
