(ZY24953) One of the earliest religious periodicals intended for the young. It was published from 1805 until 1867 and than amalgamated with the Bible class magazine. "The Youth's Magazine" and other Sunday School periodicals of the time "were to be the first really successful periodical publications for the young... The recently-established Sunday Schools were much in need of cheap reading material to exercise their scholars' newly-acquired skill and also to further their religious education". (Thwaite: From primer to pleasure, 1963). "The Youth's Magazine" did not just contain religious stories but also a wealth of geographical and historical knowledge.
