Contrary to most other authors, Taylor believes riders should start with the 'natural' or 'basic' seat, so that the new rider can relax and can concentrate on rhythm and balance. Then, after the new rider feels at home and is as one with the horse while riding this primary seat, he/she can easily make such changes as are needed to become expert at any one of the very different specialized seats, each of which demand rhythm, blance, and a certain degree of relaxation. More attention is devoted to western riding than other methods. The care of the personal mount and of his tack, the handling of the horse in a trailer, the shoeing of the horse, and common sense, courtesy, and safety to mount and man on the trail and in the field are also covered. ; 8-1/4" tall; 269 pages.
