John Skinner Prout (1805-1876), nephew of Samuel Prout from England, arrived in Australia in 1840. Among Prout's many contributions to illustrated works of Australia are Sydney Illustrated 1842, and Tasmania Illustrated 1844.<br><br>From Australia Illustrated by Edwin Carton Booth, published in London between 1874 and 1876. Booth's book of steel engravings is considered one of the more important early illustrated books depicting Australia.

An William Wilson: "I am greatly obliged by your polite attention to my somewhat unceremonious request in reference to your pew in St. James's chapel; and am flattered by your very friendly feeling in the offer of a sitting when a vacancy occured - a kindness I shall feel at liberty to avail myself of, in the event of not obtaining a seat or a larger pew. Allow me to offer you my best thanks for this favor [...]". - Samuel Prout, Vater des Landschafts- und Architekturmalers Samuel Gillespie Prout (1822-1911), war von 1801 bis 1805 für J. Brittons "Beauties of England and Wales" tätig. Er bereiste seit 1818 wiederholt den Kontinent und malte Landschaften und Architekturveduten aus England, Holland, Frankreich, Deutschland, Italien usw. mit reicher figürlicher Staffage. "[H]e became celebrated as a painter of the churches, streets, and market places of Normandy" (Ward, S. 735). Als eine seiner vorzüglichsten Arbeiten gilt die Herstellung der 25 Lithographien des 1822 und 1824 erschienen Buches "Illustrations of the Rhine".
