The taxonomy is that of Bentham and Hooker.Julia Trevelyan Oman (1930-2003), afterwards Lady Strong, is widely regarded as one of the finest British theatre, opera and television designers of the twentieth century. While still a student at the Royal College of Art in 1955 she submitted a series of ballet designs to Sir Hugh Casson which led ultimately to Sir Frederick Ashton's renowned production of Elgar's Enigma Variations. Her TV productions include Jonathan Miller's Alice in Wonderland and the Galsworthy's The Forsyte Saga. She married Sir Roy Strong in 1971 and worked with him on a number of leading titles in the field of architecture and landscape gardening. The present copy was acquired by her whilst still a teenager - a remarkably early survival.
