[European Art and History] Rice, David Talbot, Editor. DAWN OF EUROPEAN CIVILIZATION. The Dark Ages, (New York: McGraw-Hill Books Company, 1965)
First edition, American issue imprinted McGraw-Hill but produced by Thames and Hudson in England and printed in Germany. With 675 illustrations, 200 of which in beautiful full color on full page plates, 475 black and white photographs, drawings, maps and genealogical tables. Folio, publisher's original powder blue buckram lettered on the upper cover and spine in gilt, in the original color pictorial dustjacket. 360pp. A fine and appealing copy, the paper used in the production of the text block is prone to browning and this copy is toned lightly and evenly as is typical, but the color plates on glossy paper are all very fresh and bright, the cloth in excellent state, the jacket with edge wear, some chipping a few closed tears but still very attractive.
