Lenski, Lois: Little Sioux Girl, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania J. B. Lippincott Company 1958 ; Schutzumschlag / dust cover; 1. Ed.

First Edition The author visited Sioux children in a Dakota reservation, and her knowledge of them has enabled her to add this colorful story to her Roundabout America Series. Eva White Bird lived with her family in the town of Black Horse on an Indian reservation in the Dakotas. In summer they moved down to the river bottom. When Prairie Rose, Eva's Sioux doll, was lost, the young girl walked all the way back to the reservation to look for her. It wasn't until the Christmas party the next winter when the mystery of the lost doll was solved. The green cloth binding is very worn at the corners, edges and spine ends. It was originally a library book, so the first page has a rough mark where the envelope was and a magnetic number blacked out. The title page has a 'withdrawn' stamp, as does the bottom edge of the pages. No other library marks appear on the book. The DJ is encased in an acrylic cover that has a few small tears at the top spine and a small tear at the top near the flap. The jacket looks like it is a bit worn near the spine. 128 pages, with the typically delightful illustrations by Lois Lenski. Some of the pages have light spots on them. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Hard Cover jacket condition: Good Very Good
