MILLER, OLIVE BEAUPRE, EDITOR. MY BOOK HOUSE 10 VOLUMES. Chicago: The Book House For Children, 1948.

The Book House publishing company was founded in 1919 publishing children's stories edited by Olive Beaupre Miller, (American Author,& publisher 1883 -1968). The stories were edited to meet her vision of children's literature that would help in a child's development of expressing ideas, as well as their emotions and understanding of correct values.. A varied selection of stories and rhymes were chosen with consideration of the different periods of childhood growth in vocabulary, understanding of subject matter and ability to follow the complexity of plot and structure. The literature gathered was from the greatest authors of the past and present, rich in the heritage of old folk tales reflecting every country and tales passed down from generation to generation. Miller avoided tales the portrayed harmful and wicked behavior, such as lying and cheating to gain one's desire. The eloquence in the retelling of these tales, combined with the masterful illustrations have created one of the most collectable and enduring sets of children's literature.
