Tranter, Nigel.. SILVER ISLAND.. Thomas Nelson and Sons, London, (1964), Ist edition.,
85 pp, 8vo, HC in dust jacket. B&w illus by G.H. Day. "A short distance away from Ardencraig Point where Nick and Peter were camping lay the island, tantilisingly near yet too far to reach without a boat. Yet it was upon the island and its secret that the adventure centred - the adventure which began with the astonishing discovery the boys made while exploring the old lead-mines and a chance-recalled remark their history master had once made. Or perhaps it was the mysterious flickering l i g hts on the roof of Ardencraig Castle that really started it all..." Pages are browned, binding nice and tight. Slight bumps to corners of boards, small area of sunfading at top of spine, light water stain to top corner of textblock (faintly n ot ic eable at top corner of title page only on interior). Dust jacket has light edgewear/rubbing/scuffing, 1" closed tear at top of spine, a few tiny tears/chips elsewhere, crease at bottom corner of rear flap, crease down spine, faint watermar ks top co rner, faint soiling to rear panel, light browning along top edge, a few scattered light foxing spots - front panel illustration bright. Looks better than it sounds - scan available on request. VG-/G+.
