Joseph Rudyard Kipling 1865 - 1936
December 30th, 2009 marks 144th birthday anniversary of Rudyard Kipling, British author, novelist, poet, short-story writer, and Nobel Prize laureate. Rudyard Kipling was a masterful short story writer portraying people, history and culture of his times. Readers love Kipling's romantic tales about the adventures of Englishmen in foreign and distant parts of the world. Characteristic for Kipling is compassion for the world of children and humorous approach toward pretentious patriotism. Kipling was the recipient of many honorary degrees and other awards. In 1907 he received the Nobel Prize and in 1926 he received the Gold Medal of the Royal Society of Literature.
