th birthday anniversary of Mark Twain (Samuel Langhorne Clemens), classic American author, humorist, lecturer and essayist. Mark Twain despised the injustice of slavery and any type of meaningless violence. He was against vivisection and acted as Vice-President of the American Anti-Imperialist League for nine years. Twain is a master in creating comical verse with satirical wit. An inexhaustible lecturer and writer even into his seventy-fourth year, he published more than thirty books, hundreds of essays, articles, speeches, and short stories.
